Numbers are part of our life:
Bibiana counts the students in the sea so as not to lose anyone behind a wave or carried away by the current; we, swimmers, count strokes to entertain ourselves during races or to complete a task in the pool; those who follow nutrition know how many proteins they can consume daily; triathletes know that, depending on the distance, they have to take one or more gels, etc.
And in our daily lives, many decisions are made (or should be) based on numbers, because after all, they do not obey the whim of the moment: they are the only ones that reveal a truth when properly deciphered.
Who doesn’t feel amazed when seeing a symmetrical license plate, or when faced with figures that, geometrically and magically, fit together to give rise to wonderful paintings?
As Jorge Luis Borges once said: ‘The concept of number is perhaps the greatest instrument of the human mind.’

And, more than anything, during this year, we were part of something that could spread, multiply, and inspire those around us, perhaps even transform into something where the sum of each swimmer-piece is more than the mathematical total: a number we cannot even imagine.
